Pu, Lan is a wall painting conservator and the Robert H. N. Family Foundation Lecturer in Conservation of Buddhist heritage at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Art, University of London. Her work engages in developing interdisciplinary approaches in studying Buddhist heritage and their preservation, currently covering painting technology, deterioration processes, conservation theories, and the sociocultural impacts on sacred objects. Her research areas primarily focus on wall paintings in the Himalayas and other related regions where she has been conducting conservation works, with special attention paid to religious domains in Bhutan, Tibet, Ladakh and Dunhuang. Her recent papers explore the development of Bhutanese marouflage techniques, and the application of Buddhist epistemology in preservation practices.
Lan obtained her PhD in History of Art and MA in Wall Painting Conservation from the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. Prior to this, she completed her MA in Buddhist Studies at the University of Hong Kong and BA in Graphic Design and Arts at the University State of California, San Bernardino.
